Last night Grace and I were pulling out of our apartments to go get milk at the store, but after I drove over the train tracks I new something was wrong. My usually very quiet car suddenly sounded like a puttering John Deer tractor. When I put the car in reverse to try and back up I could hear that something was dragging under the car. Not a good sign, so I turned it off, called Jeff and he and I switched places. Then my poor, tired, already stressed-out husband spent the next 3 hours on the phone getting everything prepared to have it towed to Ford and looked at.
We were really bummed last night because we had big plans to pay off Jeff's motorcycle with our refund check so we could have a little extra cash every month and this was ruining everything. When we bought our car last year we decided to get the extended warranty, the only problem was that Jeff was convinced that this issue wasnt covered. I felt terrible because it was just one more thing Jeff had to carry around on his shoulders. We were grateful to his friend Sharon who was willing to pick him up for work this morning.
Then this morning, after discovering we would have to pay $80 for Ford to just look at it, Jeff called in a favor to the man who sold us the car in Bellevue. He called the owner here in Walla Walla and they agreed to do it for free! I was so happy, but it gets even better. After looking at the car, the tech explained to Jeff that it wasnt what we originally thought and the warranty would cover it after all. The greatest part is that we didn't even have to pay a deductable, because it falls under a guaranteed 8 year warranty that comes standard with all Ford cars.
We get to pick up our car Monday and we don't have to pay a penny. For those of you who know the financial situation we have been in this month, you know how wonderful this news was for us. Now we can still pay off the bike like planned and can look forward to February being a better month.
