Well it turns out that most likely Gracie does NOT have a food allergy...phew! Our pediatrician said that it is very common to get a rash or hives before, during or after a virus, and that they can stick around anywhere from 3-10 days. He said that since Gracie came down with her cold about the same time as her hives that they are most likely linked to one-another. He said that there is a very slim chance that she has an allergy, but that it is VERY unlikely. What a relief!
My plan is still to eliminate the cranberry juice, at least for 6 months, and then try it again to see if we get the same result. And if for some reason she continues to get episodes of hives after this round clears up, then we will have to do some more investigating to try and figure out what may be causing them.
While we were at the doctors office the nurse decided to weigh and measure her. She was 21lb 5oz (two sacks of potatoes) and 31in tall (just a hair over 2 1/2 feet). Its amazing, she is so big, I still slip occasionally and call Olivia, Gracie. She has reached all the milestones for her age, except the ability to take off her clothes; which is okay with me! I can't imagine what it will be like the first time I go into her room and she is completely naked.
Some of her new words are:
eye
Bite
Ni-night
Juice
Num-nums
We have been teaching her new objects in the house and where to look for them...so far she has mastered the clock in the living room. We ask her "Grace, where is the clock?", and she will look to it and point. She tries to say clock, but only manages to get the "ck" sound. While at the emergency room the other day, there was a huge clock in our room and Jeff asked her where it was and after a few moments she found it on her own and pointed.
She is getting so bright and amazes Jeff and I every day. Last night I got some milk ready for bed time and as soon as she saw it she ran to her room and kept saying ni-night. It was adorable!
We love her so much and I feel so much better having gotten a piece of mind from the doc. The nurse today said I was a "SUPER-MOM", it was nice to hear that other people see how big of a job it is and how hard I try to do it to the best of my ability. Its been a good day!!!
